Miller Systems specialise in supplying, installing and maintaining dry cleaning and laundry machinery.

Our experienced engineering staff can design your new set-up or shop revamp by utilizing our combined experience of three generations of industry involvement. This makes us the most experienced company of this nature in Australia with over 200 complete set-ups to our name and over 150 dry cleaning machines sold Australia wide.

If a full Dry Cleaning set up is required, Miller Systems has the innovative Self-Contained Package Plant system.

The self-contained Package Plant is a unique, tried and tested Dry Cleaning system. The system is unique because it is the only integrated package plant int he world that combines the latest available technology in cleaning, finishing and steam generation to produce an operational dry cleaning plant. The result of this is that the system utilizes less energy, requires less flor area, is simple to use and costs less to purchase, install and run.

The Package plant consists of an electrically powered Firbimatic or Realstar; Perc, Hydrocarbon or Greenearth Dry Cleaning machine and self contained Pony press with its own boiler and vacuum. The boiler in the press is used to generate the required steam for the sundry equipment. This sundry equipment usually consists of a Pony Former, Spotting board and Puff Iron.

The advantage of this system is its ability to produce dry steam without the use of steam traps. Te removal of the steam trap from the steam condensation line means a huge saving of energy because all the condensation is drained directly back to the boiler for further generation of steam.

The steam required to operate this system is generated in the boiler that is contained in the press. This means the steam is generated at the point of consumption. There is also very little pipe-work required to direct this steam to the other equipment. With less pipe-work in the operational plant there is obviously less heat and therefore a more comfortable working environment is established. Furthermore, with less pipe-work there is a saving in installation costs due to a reduction in the materials and labour costs required for connecting the equipment. Finally, with less pipe-work we have a reduction in the heat loss that is radiated through this pipe-work, which interprets to another energy saving.

As mentioned above, the boiler is contained within the press, which means there is a significant reduction in the floor area that is required to operate this plant. This is important because we no longer need a designated area of the shop specifically for the boiler. This area can now be used for extra hanging capacity, another piece of equipment, or simply not used at all and fit the equipment into a smaller shop. With such a large percentage of outgoings directed to rent it is good to know that a smaller shop is now realistic.

A short explanation of the technical features of the Package Plant is as follows;

  • A 25% to 30% reduction in energy costs is achieved.
  • A reduction in the installation costs. The installation of a central boiler plant this size, less electrical, is approximately $19,000.00 compared to this self-contained plant approximately $12,000.00. This figure does not include electrical and some plumbing costs.
  • A reduction in the overall energy required. A typical installation of a central boiler plant would normally require more than 160amps per phase for one 16kg machine, two presses, one former, one puff iron and spotting board. The self-contained plant with the same equipment requires approximately 68kW or approximately 95amps per phase.
  • A reduction in the shop area that is required. A package plant can be installed in a shop as small as 38 sqm.

The equipment that is used in this system is of the highest quality and complies with all necessary EPA, Work Cover and local council regulations.
